Grosse Pointe South Varsity Nabs Win Over Churchill Despite Early 3-Run Inning

Churchill scored three runs in the first inning, but Grosse Pointe South Varsity still won 8-5 on Wednesday. The big inning for Churchill came thanks to doubles by Lowry and Rudd.

Churchill opened up scoring in the first inning, when Lowry doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Grosse Pointe South Varsity pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Weston Brundage singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Conor McKenna homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs, and Cameron Mallegg singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Brundage was the winning pitcher for Grosse Pointe South Varsity. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one. McKenna threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Kennell led things off on the mound for Churchill. He lasted three innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out one and walking zero. C Greener threw four innings out of the bullpen.

Nick Raicevich started the game for Grosse Pointe South Varsity. He lasted one inning, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one

Grosse Pointe South Varsity smacked one home run on the day. McKenna went yard in the third inning.
